Question:  Last month’s HR Bulletin addressed the question “When/how do part-time employees get paid for overtime ?”

CORRECTION

Answer: For exempt (Unclassified) employees the answer according to the UPPS 04.04.11, University Classification and Compensation Policy is:

“05.06 Part-time exempt staff employees:

a. Hours up to 40 -- Employees may be awarded compensatory time in accordance with Section 05.04 for each hour up to forty (40) in any work week (resulting from the combination of hours worked and paid leave) that exceeds the number of hours the employee was appointed to work that week. Employees may not be paid cash for such hours.

b. Hours beyond 40 -- Employees who work in excess of forty (40) hours in any work week shall be compensated in accordance with the provisions of Section 05.04.”
