Background Checks

We have begun the process of transitioning to a new background check vendor. Acxiom will be replaced by HireRight, a California based company which limits its services exclusively to background screening. We anticipate transitioning to HireRight on September 1, 2007. The process for administering this program will remain the same. Prior to conducting a check, the hiring department must obtain a written release from the job candidate using a standardized request form provided by Human Resources.

The elements of the standard check will remain the same:

  • A Social Security Number Trace
  • County level (unlimited number of counties from the SSN trace) criminal check
  • National Criminal Database

The cost of the standard background check will increase from $29 to $40 and will be borne by the hiring department. Although somewhat more expensive, in test cases HireRight outperformed Axciom dramatically in both service and response time. We believe you will be pleased with the results of this transition.

As with Acxiom, other types of checks, such as credential, education, and credit, are available and are priced separately.
